Slip-On Shoes That Will Save Your Feet This Summer

You can’t imagine how happy I am that spring has finally arrived to Montreal. I’ve been waiting for these long walks, bike rides and days full of sunlight for so long. Spring is almost like a New Year’s Eve here, I am telling you. The only challenge that keeps coming along is finding a pair of walking, preferably slip-on shoes, which are stylish enough to wear with smart casual outfits and comfortable enough to make those 10,000 steps a day.

Let me tell you a secret. Last summer, I’ve been wearing my training shoes all the time: when running errands, travelling and even to the office, since I had some knee pain and these were the most comfortable shoes I had. I would change them for something fashionable only for a date night or for a photo. Why didn’t I wear those trendy flat slip-on shoes instead? Well, flat shoes seem harmless at first, especially in comparison with high heels. However, flats have no arch support whatsoever, meaning that they are just as bad for your knees and back as stilettos. So if your health is a priority to you, you should consider getting insertable heel pads or investing in a pair that is stylish, comfortable and healthy. Yep, I know, these are hard to find.

I was really lucky though, because a couple of weeks ago I was offered to try and style Nebula shoes by Geox. I picked a pair of beautiful black slip-on shoes, and was informed about their innovative built-in technology, which ensures exceptional breathability, lightness and comfort. The sole was designed to follow the natural roll of the foot during walking, and provides the cushioning and flexibility our feet need so badly. Needless to say, I was curious to see whether Nebula shoes I got would live up to its promise, and I walked almost 10 kilometres (about 6 miles) wearing them last Sunday. Guys, that 10km walk felt like walking on clouds. These shoes feel that natural and weightless on feet; I almost had the impression of walking barefoot. Now I just can’t stop thinking about getting another pair in white.

  1. These sneakers sound amazing, Yulia! Since I have flat feet, I find it often uncomfortable wearing flats, if they don’t offer a comfy and supportive cushion, so I know what you mean! I love that these sneakers are so sleek and stylish as well as innovative and healthy for your body! Thanks so much for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    • I am so happy you understand me, Jalisa!:) It’s true that with flat feet you have no choice but look for shoes with a decent level of cushioning. I noticed that most people, including myself in the past, don’t realize flats are no good though. Fortunately, there are some stylish options nowadays that are really comfortable:)

    • That’s why I love them!:) It’s actually my first pair of sneakers that I decided to style with a blazer; it just never felt right before. Thanks so much for reading and have a great weekend, Taylor!:)

  4. Okay, I need a pair in my life. I have never felt 100% comfortable in flats and thank you for mentioning that they don’t have arch support, I’ve always thought they can hurt the feet in the long run. Now I have never seen this brand Geox before, are they online only?

  8. Dear Yulia, how wonderful Spring arrived finally in Montreal! We had here in Bavaria many sunny days but today in the morning it was again all white outside 🙂 How good you have now these stylish sneakers as you are right – it is much healthier to wear sneakers instead of heels and it is laudable you wore already last year sneakers. Hopefully your issues are better now.
Love the cool look including the elegant blazer!
    Enjoy further the Spring <3

  9. Oh I love anything flat and usually wear them 90% of the time! But as you said, it’s so difficult to find something that provides proper support to your feet. My feet hurts after walking too long.. But these shoes seem great for these situations! Love how stylish they look – always a great add on 🙂 I absolutely loved the outfit and you look so gorgeous Yulia! So glad spring is almost your way and you are enjoying all the associated activities 😀 Have a wonderful week!

  10. First of all, you look amazing! Your style is absolute minimalist perfection and I need you to re-haul my wardrobe please haha. But I completely agree with you about comfort, it’s so important to me as well. Thank you for going in-depth about the importance of not wearing flat shoes too. It’s something I’ve never really thought about until now. Like you said in comparison to heels, flats are a dream lol. But I’m a huge lover of my sneakers and will definitely be checking out the ones you’re wearing here.:D

  11. You may most probably not know but two years back I used to wear sneakers all the time as I was seriously addicted to it! The comfort it gives was so great that I couldn’t think of anything else unless absolutely required. Coming to the post, those sneakers are smart looking & the sole looks hi-tech. I think it is a great sneaker with good support. And girl, you look gorgeous as always <3

  12. Great post Yulia! It’s so true that flats are as bad as high stiletto heels and it’s such a challenge to find stylish and comfortable shoes. This model from Geox is actually pretty nice and clean. I would love to try them on. Love your look 🙂

  13. Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was super
long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say,
I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to
everything. Do you have any tips and hints for first-time blog writers?
    I’d genuinely appreciate it.
