Mix and Match Fashion in Action, or Easy Casual Fall Outfit

Hi guys! I am back with one of my favourite casual outfits of this fall. To be honest, when I got dressed for this photoshoot, the first thing my husband (aka my photographer) said was: “Are you wearing this jacket again?”. Clearly, that’s not what we, girls, want to hear when we are getting ready, but let me explain.

Like I mentioned earlier this year, I’ve been working on decluttering my closet and gradually transforming it into a mix and match closet to minimize those tiresome “nothing to wear” situations. Things started falling into place pretty quickly, and I was efficient in my morning dressing routine as never before.

However, when I had to go through a pile of outerwear a couple of weeks ago, it turned out that I still have a couple of transitional, “trendy” coats that I didn’t even expect to wear longer than a couple of seasons. Remember this oversized military jacket and this plaid coat? Well, they are having a fashion moment again and actually make me want to shop my own closet – something I’d never thought I’d say. Plus, they turned out to be so versatile and indispensable this early fall that I think of them as of classic pieces – probably because they match with my favourite neutral, black and white palette. It turns out that after all, not all fashion trends are the same, and some can be a great addition for a capsule or mix and match wardrobes.

So here I am, wearing my favourite three-years-old military jacket again. What piece of clothing do you wear most frequently these days?

I was wearing:

Jacket by Current/Elliott
Tee by Madewell (sold out, similar here and here)
Jeans by Urban Outfitters
Sneakers by Converse
Sunglasses by Ray-Ban
Bag by Vince (sold out, similar here, here and here)

  1. This style is totally me: simple and comfortable, and yet fashionable! The piece of clothing I have been wearing a lot lately is also an oversized jacket. Love the photos 🙂

  2. I love this whole combo of this outfit! I love stripes with that shade of jeans, it’s such a casual yet can be pulled off in a lot of situations and the jacket just matches perfectly over the top!

  4. I love your military jacket, beauty, it looks so good paired with the striped tee and jeans! I agree, not all trends are trendy or of the moment, some really take on a more classic, timeless feel that can be worn for years to come, like plaid or leopard print! We see them “trend” year after year, but in all reality, they are classics and can be easily mixed and matched into anyone’s closet, regardless of style! I’d have to say right now, I’m wearing these burgundy ankle boots I purchased at the end of summer non stop! Like, I have to stop myself and remember that I DO have other options, lol, but I love them so much, I can’t help it! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

  5. Wow! You look so edgy and cool Yulia! I love this look head to toe! The military jacket looks stunning on you! Love how you styled it to the jeans and the striped Shirt! Such a great combo! Thank you so much for sharing!
I hope you’re having an amazing weekend!
    Much love, Pisa
